Lorraine Downes, born and raised in New Zealand, began her career as a model winning Miss Universe New Zealand and took the Everest title in the world of modelling, Miss Universe 1983. No other New Zealander has reached this pinnacle in the world of beauty. Her stellar career continued, modelling internationally being signed by Ford Models Japan before returning to New Zealand. Lorraine established her own modelling agency and grooming school based in Wellington, Care of Lorraine. This successful model agency was sold during the 1990’s and Lorraine retained the Grooming side of the business while raising her family, 17 year old son Hilton and 12 year old daughter Jasmine.

Stepping out into the spotlight again in 2006 Lorraine danced her way through “Dancing with the Stars”, raising over $110,000 for Child Cancer and danced off with the trophy - a true champion of champions.

Lorraine has recently returned to Auckland in 2009, marrying former NZ Cricket Captain Martin Crowe and establishing her successful style and image consultancy - Lorraine Downes. She actively encourages women who are leading busy and sometimes stressful lives, to remember they must give themselves some personal time to take care of their appearance and by making small adjustments they will enhance both their appearance and their general well being.  The Maia Beauty Shower and Shower Infusion Pod play an essential role in Lorraine’s daily routine.

"Like most women, our shower time is our moment where we can get some me time and that's important! I loved having my shower time before, believe me, once you have had the experience of the Shower Infusions, you will never want to go back." Lorraine says.

Lorraine makes her debut with Methven at their tapware launch at the Auckland War Memorial Museum on Tuesday 11 May.
