Methven are a really old New Zealand company, trusted and proven experts in water delivery. They have won many awards for design and innovation. I like the fact that they created Satinjet the water saving technology that actually delivers a luxury shower experience and reduces the amount of water I use each shower.
My showerhead is the Methven Maia - the worlds First Beauty Shower. The purpose changing to the Maia was to get relief from the harsh effects of the amount of chlorine that is in our water. Some days there is more chlorine than others. My hair takes a bit of a pounding with the amount of styling I have to do each week, so taking the chlorine out of the water has made my hair baby soft and the best is that my colour lasts longer. Recently through stress and the pulling of my hair from over blowaving, this gave me a hair loss issue. I am pleased to say my hair is growing back again and maybe because my scalp is in better condition from the lack of chlorine this is giving me a healthier scalp.
The facial massage function is great too, as I get a really deep cleanse using the power of the Satinjet combined with the water which is the power of the forces of nature. My skin tingles after a one minute hydro facial and it feels soft ready to absorb my normal beauty products after.
My absolute favourite part of my HomeSpa routine is the genius Shower Infusions Pod. The pod has a cartridge containing aromatherapy oils and New Zealand botanicals that are great for your skin. At the end of my shower when I've finished with the pure water I hit a switch and infuse the oils into the shower water. The smell is amazing and the oil mosturises my whole body. The infusions come in four different fragrances, which can uplift your spirit or relax how you feel. In the morning I use the Rosemary and Lemon which uplifts me to get going and energise my spirit for the day ahead. Then in the evening I use Jasmine and Ylang Ylang which makes me feel totally relaxed and ready for a good sleep. The other bonus is my bathroom smells of these fragrances after I have finished showering-bliss.
Like most women, our shower time is our moment where we can get some me time and that's important! I loved having my shower time before believe me once you have had the experience of the HomeSpa, you will never want to go back.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of having a vast number of showering experiences - from early childhood home showers adapted over the bath, rugby changing rooms, to heads on boats, make do's in camping grounds, swanky luxury lodges and hotels, to my shower at home on Waiheke. In every instance the essential daily showering experience has offered its own personal and unique experience - some would say water is the elixir of life - it certainly is an essential ingredient for life.
I recently made a modest investment in a Kiri Satinjet shower head with the infusion cartridge kit. I guess the infusion option was the main driver for my purchase as I am a bit of shower enthusiast. However curiosity got the better of me about the water saving claims so I decided to do my own test and to pitch the Satinjet head against its Italian predecessor. Living on Waiheke our water supply is sourced from our water tank using a Grundfos pump. The original and soon to be disposed Italian shower head pumped out a steady pulsating 10.65 ltrs in 60 seconds. For the same time the Kiri Satinjet shower head pumped out 9 litres of water that had a soda water like feel with the intensity of gentle rain. That equates to a water saving of 1.65ltrs per minute or a whopping 15.5% water saving! Based on 10 minutes of shower time in our house for 80% of the year, that would equate to a annual household water saving of just under 5,000 ltrs pa. Imagine the wider community savings if there was a major conversion to Satinjet's!
We believe sustainability always begins with good design. The Satinjet certainly meets these criteria on all counts.
As the shower area is the last bastion of "own zone" in the home - by adding the infusion kit just elevates showering to a whole new level of experience. The shower infusion kit is no gimmick - it has all the hall marks of good design - form, function and you end up feeling great!

For the past 15 years I have been teaching Corporate Wellness in New Zealand and Australia, a major part of that is to provide people with a toolbox of ideas to manage and not avoid the daily stressors in their lives. Methven's Shower Infusion fits perfectly into that toolbox! To wake up to an invigorating shower infusion, or to regenerate at the end of the day with a relaxing infusion is a great way of achieving a sustainable balance. I am also a busy Mum with two boys and run two companies so I have to practise what I preach. I have always used essential oils so trying the shower infusions was exciting to see how they felt on the skin with water. I have to say I love them and so do my boys. What I notice is that all of our skin has improved in the time we have been using the infusions and it is also lovely on the hair, I no longer have to bribe the boys into taking a shower, they are quite happy if they get to have the infusion on. I am not moisturising as much as before which pleases me as cream is one less thing that my skin gets to absorb. What I can't believe is how long each infusion lasts, it really is value for money all round!

Getting up in the mornings can be a bit of a chore, but the first time I woke up to a shower using Methven's Shower Infusions was a real treat! The minty smell of the "Fresh" variant was just gorgeous and had an unexpected pick me up effect that lasted all morning. It also had a really natural, essential oil scent as opposed to a synthetic one, which is really important to someone like me who really values beautiful fragrances and natural oils. Anything that turns an early wake up into a real pleasure is a winner in my book!

As a beauty editor I've tried lots of luxurious bathtime lotions and potions, but have never experienced anything quite like Methven Shower Infusions. It's an inspired concept and what's better, it's easy to install yourself in your shower at home. The fragrances of the infusions are heavenly and I particularly liked the fact that the switch on the canister allowed you to adjust when the infusion flowed through and when it was just back to water (good for when you're washing your hair). My skin was beautifully scented and soft after every shower and it's a wonderful way to invigorate the senses.

I've had the pure privilege of using a Methven Shower Infusion for the past few months, and it has added a little bit of luxury to my day .... Every day!
After receiving my shower infusion, the first thing I noticed was the attractive packaging, which also makes this product ideal for gift giving. Each package contains a DVD which makes the explanation for installation very easy ... yes, even for females.
After easily attaching my infusion pod to my existing slide shower, I first tried the 'Fresh' shower infusion. Consisting of green tea & peppermint essential oils, this infusion is perfect to start your day with as it has such an invigorating fragrance. It is also ideal at the end of a long day at work, with the therapeutic soothing effects on the skin.
The 'Bliss' shower infusion is perfect for unwinding as well at the end of they day, the jasmine fragrance revitalises the senses and overall I find it very calming on the skin.
Another aspect I love about this new way of showering is how soft my skin feels after the shower. It certainly saves me time in the mornings as moisturising is now an 'added option' and certainly not a necessity as the infusions provide a natural skin toner and moisturised feel to my skin. Now I can't wait to try out the other two infusions - Uplift and Focus.
The other added bonus is the 'dial' feature, so you can easily turn the infusion off for when "others" are showering. Trust me, this will make your infusion last much longer!
Given today's economic times and busy schedules, it's not always easy to get to a beauty salon each month. So I've found that the cost of only 1 monthly facial, paid for my Shower Infusion and now I have the benefit of having a little bit of luxury every day that is just for me. This product cannot be compared to anything else as it is so unique and a definite must for all women who enjoy (and deserve) a bit of pampering and indulgence in their everyday lives.
