Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme

WELsThe Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS) is a consumer focused government regulation that helps you make informed choices about the water efficiency of products. It provides information to aid your purchasing decision and promotes water conservation.

A WELS rating provides an average flow rate for a product when tested at various pressures. The rating is displayed with a number of stars, similar to the energy efficiency labels on appliances. The more WELS stars it has, the more water-efficient the product.

WELs

Our Australian products already come with WELS ratings where this scheme is compulsory.

Pressure to raise environmental standards means that WELS will be mandatory by April 2011 in New Zealand. Industry standards now include a test procedure rating taps and showers for low pressure installations, which has been introduced specifically for New Zealand conditions. Soon you will be able to check the WELS ratings on taps, showers, toilets, urinals, washing machines and dishwashers.
